The Operating Room Global (TORG) invites applications from dedicated and dynamic professionals to join the TORG India National Executive Committee.

TORG is a multidisciplinary global network advancing safe, equitable, and innovative surgical, anesthetic, and perioperative care through education, research, advocacy, and collaboration. The India Chapter is now strengthening its leadership structure to enhance national engagement and global collaboration.

Meet the National Director

Dr. Soni is a distinguished Orthopedic Surgeon and visionary leader, serving as:

  • Director, Apollo RESTORE+ Programme
  • Head of Unit-2, Orthopedic Trauma, Arthroscopy & Shoulder Surgery Unit, Apollo Hospitals

Voluntary Leadership Positions

The TORG India National Executive Committee drives the chapter’s vision, strategy, and activities in alignment with The Operating Room Global (TORG) mission of strengthening surgical, anesthetic, and perioperative systems through education, research, and collaboration.

National Chair / Director

(Position currently held – not open for application)
Role Summary:
Provides strategic leadership and overall direction for TORG India, ensuring alignment with TORG’s global mission and priorities.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Lead and represent TORG India nationally and internationally.
  2. Oversee all ExCo functions and ensure accountability and performance.
  3. Facilitate collaboration between TORG India and the Global Secretariat.
  4. Approve annual plans, budgets, and reports.
  5. Mentor and support ExCo members in delivering on objectives.
  6. Promote advocacy and partnerships with key national stakeholders.

Vice Chair

Role Summary:
Supports the National Chair in executive functions and provides leadership continuity across committees and regions.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Assist the Chair in strategic planning and oversight of activities.
  2. Supervise the work of selected Leads and Regional Coordinators.
  3. Represent TORG India in meetings when the Chair is unavailable.
  4. Coordinate inter-departmental collaboration within the ExCo.
  5. Monitor progress of national initiatives and ensure timely reporting.
  6. Support capacity building and leadership development within the chapter.

Secretary

Role Summary:
Manages chapter administration, correspondence, and documentation to ensure effective communication and governance.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Record and circulate minutes of ExCo and general meetings.
  2. Maintain accurate records of membership, decisions, and activities.
  3. Prepare and distribute official communications and notices.
  4. Support the Chair and Vice Chair in coordinating ExCo operations.
  5. Oversee compliance with TORG policies and procedures.
  6. Liaise with the Global Secretariat for documentation and reporting.

Treasurer

Role Summary:
Oversees all financial matters of TORG India to ensure transparency, accountability, and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Manage and record all financial transactions and chapter accounts.
  2. Prepare quarterly and annual financial reports.
  3. Support budgeting and funding proposal development.
  4. Ensure adherence to TORG financial policies and ethical standards.
  5. Advise the ExCo on fundraising opportunities and resource allocation.
  6. Liaise with the Global Secretariat on financial reporting and audits.

Research Lead

Role Summary:
Drives TORG India’s research agenda and coordinates national and global perioperative research collaborations.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Lead design and coordination of national and multicentre research projects.
  2. Promote evidence-based practice through research dissemination.
  3. Mentor early-career researchers and facilitate collaborative studies.
  4. Ensure ethical and methodological standards in all research activities.
  5. Represent TORG India in research consortia and grant applications.
  6. Maintain a repository of ongoing and completed research outputs.

Education Lead

Role Summary:
Leads educational planning, training programs, and professional development initiatives for the chapter.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and deliver continuing education and capacity-building programs.
  2. Coordinate workshops, webinars, and training collaborations.
  3. Align educational content with global perioperative standards.
  4. Support integration of digital learning and simulation initiatives.
  5. Work with the Research and Events Leads to plan scientific sessions.
  6. Evaluate educational impact and report outcomes to the ExCo.

Partnerships Lead

Role Summary:
Forges and maintains institutional, professional, and industry partnerships that strengthen TORG India’s network and activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Identify and engage national and international partners.
  2. Develop and manage Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs).
  3. Support collaborative events and joint research or training projects.
  4. Strengthen visibility and reputation of TORG India through strategic alliances.
  5. Work closely with the Chair and Vice Chair to manage stakeholder relations.
  6. Report partnership performance and outcomes to the ExCo.

Events Lead

Role Summary:
Plans and executes TORG India’s conferences, symposia, and public engagement events.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop the annual calendar of scientific and community events.
  2. Coordinate event logistics, programming, and speaker management.
  3. Collaborate with the Education and Communications Leads for promotion.
  4. Oversee event budgets and post-event reporting.
  5. Support regional event initiatives and student engagement.
  6. Ensure alignment with TORG’s quality and branding standards.

Communications Lead

Role Summary:
Oversees all internal and external communication strategies to ensure consistent, professional, and impactful messaging.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Manage chapter newsletters, official statements, and media content.
  2. Ensure coherence of all communication with TORG’s brand identity.
  3. Support advocacy through effective storytelling and outreach.
  4. Coordinate with the Social Media Lead for content scheduling.
  5. Facilitate communication between ExCo, regions, and members.
  6. Produce communication reports and analytics for strategic planning.

Social Media Lead

Role Summary:
Manages TORG India’s social media presence to engage audiences and amplify the organization’s mission.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and implement a social media strategy for awareness and engagement.
  2. Create and schedule high-quality content across platforms.
  3. Highlight TORG India events, achievements, and opportunities.
  4. Monitor analytics and adjust strategies for maximum impact.
  5. Collaborate with the Communications and Events Leads on campaigns.
  6. Uphold TORG’s professional tone and digital communication guidelines.

Regional Coordinators (North, South, East, West, Central

Role Summary:
Represent TORG India members across geographic regions, ensuring equitable participation and local activity development.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Serve as the primary liaison between regional members and the National ExCo.
  2. Promote TORG membership and engagement within assigned region.
  3. Coordinate regional meetings, workshops, and advocacy activities.
  4. Identify local collaboration and training opportunities.
  5. Submit quarterly updates to the Vice Chair and Secretary.
  6. Support implementation of national projects at the regional level.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Active and verified member of The Operating Room Global (TORG)
  • Based in India or affiliated with an Indian healthcare or academic institution
  • Demonstrated commitment to surgical systems strengthening, perioperative practice, education, or research
  • Strong leadership, communication, and teamwork abilities

Application Requirements:

  • Updated CV (maximum 2 pages)
  • Statement of Interest (maximum 500 words) outlining TORG-Membership ID, motivation, relevant experience, and expected contribution to TORG India.
